I’m going to start putting together some of my favorite things of 2009, in no particular order. First up is a songstress from Canada that took the soul genre by storm.
Yes, Melanie Fiona is the TRUTH. Love her, and this year, along with her debut album, The Bridge, her and her team put together a series of performances called Subway Series that feature Melanie singing songs from the album with local street performers. First up was her visit to the NYC subway system. Great twist. Great voice. Love her to pieces. Expect even more from her in 2010, and pick up The Bridge on iTunes.
It’s never what you want it to be, or what you expect it to be. And even when it is, there’s always something that makes it not the same. Not ideal. Not YOUR ideal. And that’s OK. Because life definitely is what you make it. But it’s more about how you react to it. How you handle it. How you make it OK for you.
