I Believe: The End of Summer Cooldown
Well, this is it. The official end of an extremely busy summer. MY summer. Three months that gave me the privilege of making new acquaintances, allowed me to establish a bond with others and forced me to rid myself of some baggage.
Overall, GOOD TIMES!
I’d like to take a moment to thank everyone who indulged me this summer, whether you gave me things to think about, things to read, things to realize, things to celebrate (like my birthday) or things to learn that I won’t soon forget.
One.crazy.summer. And I loved it.
So now, before the fall begins (THE AUTUMN OF NIKKI!!!!), let’s rock with some end-of-the-season “I Believes!”
I believe that the tribute CD to the late, great Luther Vandross is a great idea, but ummm… they should’ve left the Luther songs alone.
I believe I’m definitely not a phone person.
I believe in DJ Diva mixtapes.
I believe that Oprah giving $10 million towards the hurricane relief efforts and setting up registries, and Ellen raising more than $6 million so far, and the NBA and MLB and NFL giving as much as they’re giving to help so many rebuild their lives as well as so many others participating in telethons and fund raisers… shows that sometimes athletes and celebrities DO put their money where their mouth is.
I believe that giving time is just as important.
I believe that it’s the mission of the organization that has kept me here for this long.
I believe that every home in America should have a DVR or TiVo.
I believe the way VH1 spins off shows from The Surreal Life, the next one will probably feature Om.arosa and Ja.nice Dic.kinson as relationship counselors.
I believe that this, its final season, will be The West Wing’s finest.
I believe in TriniPrincess’s assessment of last weekend’s Emmy Awards. LOL
I believe in free concerts.
I believe the Yankees will make the playoffs.
I believe I will be purchasing an Ipod Nano this week.
I believe that you can love someone and at the same time not really like them.
I believe in “mind colonics” (Beloved, (c) 2005).
I believe in first kisses.
I believe in gorgeous, sunny, end-of-summer afternoons.
I believe we all need to keep up with the goings-on over at Yanni’s Block.
I believe in moving forward, never backwards.
I believe I have no regrets in life… at all.
I believe that the summer is over and it’s time for me to really prepare for my move.
I believe I’m grateful for all of the opportunities life has given me, as well as the people who’ve entered and exited my life.
I believe that I will look back at these past three months and deem it my best summer ever.
I believe that autumn has officially begun. Go Nikki!

Isn’t it great to reflect on a year and feel like you’ve evolved, whether it is professionally, mentally, or spiritually?
Get used to it, because for you, evolution is inevitable. We’re all rooting for you.
