SpotWrite Thursday
It’s been said that you can tell a lot about a blogger by the company he keeps. I tend to agree with that. Most bloggers keep up with like-minded individuals on a daily basis, and all of the people they check out are contained on their blogroll.
Personally — whether I comment or not — believe it or not, I read everyone on my massive roll daily (located to the right) … looking for inspiration, music, entertainment news, a good laugh, sound advice, wry antecdotes or, in some cases, just some good ole HOB (c). LOL
For the next few weeks, I’m going to take a cue from B’s Soul Food recipe and use Thursdays as my “SpotWrite” day, with this space being my testimony as to why I read these eclectic folk.
Stick around and take a look. Each week we’ll randomly spotlight four musers. And if you’re not careful, you may learn a thing or two about some people you truly need to read.
First up is a sampling of my Blogsome crew, whom I affectionately refer to as All in the Family.
First up is Beloved, better known by me as “Beep-Beep” for her jeep-like tendencies. LOL It was May when I was led to her site by a fellow blogger. I believe the first post I read was this one over at her Blogspot address. Loved it. And thus started my torrid affair with her words.
We’ve since become IM buddies as well as neighbors over here at Blogsome. She was one of my first neighbors, along with Nikki and Kajuana, and even got me housewarming AND birthday gifts. She’s the younger sister I’ve never had. She rocks!!!!
Some of my favorite posts of B’s are her tributes to her mother, her dad, her complicated melody, the Soul Food posts of course *cough* check for my shout in Part 2 *cough*, and the recaps of her trips out of town, whether it be for fun or for mental and spiritual cleansing.
Beloved has so much going for her. She’s truly a sweet Georgia Peach. Always a great read. Her daily comments section is a who’s-who of the blog world, so I don’t need to sell her. Just wanted to give her the recognition she so richly deserves.
Stay driven, Beep-Beep.

Next up is one of my personal favorites, Diggs. There.is.absolutely.no.one.like.her. And there never will be. I started reading her early in the year, looking at her reflections through The Bathroom Mirror, and was caught up immediately by her word play and her knack for making even the most mundane task — like Christmas shopping — seem like a trip you NEEDED to take with her.
Some of my favorite Diggs moments (which is as difficult to choose as identifying my favorite episode of My Name is Earl … yeesh!) include her take on what she’d do if she ruled the world, the birthday party she threw for Bruh-free, definitely the V-Day party at the House of Blogs, what she would do if she woke up a man, her tribute to her mom … lawd, I could be here all day.
Many of you may recall that I put out an APB for Diggs after Katrina did her worst to New Orleans. That should tell you how much I appreciate her. Earlier this year, she found out that she was related to another blogger who lives here in New York. I had the privilege of hanging out with her kin and, like Diggs, she was equally insightful and irreverent.
Ummm, yeah … they’re definitely related. LOL
Hell, I know I don’t have to sell this young lady to the public. She’s the absolute TRUTH … straight, no chaser. Refreshing, raw. Diggs is the person’s blog you check every day just to SEE if they’ve posted. And no matter which moniker she chooses to ID herself (because she HAS had a few … lol), she will always be on my blogroll.

This next brother has definitely become a Fave of the blog world. And with good reason. He’s so damn talented, I’d need him to come up with a theme song were I to list all of his accolades. A singer/songwriter, producer, artist, radio personality, he draws you in with his honest renderings of life and love. Makes you feel him and for him as well.
It wasn’t until he came over to Blogsome that I started reading him in earnest, but now that I have, I look forward to what he has to share. Some of my favorite entries are the BTBs (Behind the Blogs), where he takes you into his past — whether it be his stint as music director for his church, his stories about the music business or his romantic dealings, Fave has a way of spinning a tale that makes you laugh, think and react … all at the same time.
I also enjoy his life stories. They paint a three-dimensional portrait of a man who’s been in love, in pain and in the middle. He doesn’t tell you everything, but tells you enough to get a sense of who he is and what he believes.
A deep brother. Cool as hell. No time for games. Always on the go. With such a rich history from which to draw. Always with a post that’s right on time.
Stay strong, Fave.

Last but not least is my homie Golden. I’m sure you’ve heard me speak of her before. And now that Raymond is gone, I’ve got the right to say it: Everybody Loves Golden. She’s the friend everyone needs in their life. She’d give you the shirt off of her back if you needed it. A single mother trying to make a dollar out of fifteen cents. A nurturer. A hangout partner. A true friend.
I came across her blog in February, after first hanging out with her, Yolie, X and Singing one Saturday night. The infamous bowling night. LOL It was her first time going. And she did surprisingly well. Since that night, I’ve been a regular visitor to “Mi Casa” and, now that she’s over at Blogsome, she’s my neighbor!
A bundle of energy, she’s quick to rant on any and everything that happens to her throughout the course of the day, from subway stories to ignorant bosses to asinine interviews. Where you see the most passion, the most love, though, is when she writes about her family. That’s when you have to put on shades so as not to be blinded by the beaming pride.
Her son is a frequent topic and her relatable stories about the ups and downs (mostly ups!) of raising a teenager are amusing, refreshing and appreciated. Recently, her mom had a scare with cancer and her handling of such a delicate situation made me even more proud to call her friend.
Again, she’s already on most people’s rolls so I don’t need to tout her to the masses. This is just in appreciation for all that she is and for giving us all an example of what it truly means to live your life like it’s Golden.
Respect …

OMG….You are so right about G!!!!!! I can’t begin to say how wonderful she is….what a true friend!!I know she is reading this. Love ya gal. oh and you too Will. ROTFL

Will, THANK YOU. Ummm even though to be honest I didn’t think you liked me much on that infamous bowling nite. Although you did let me get that lil’ video (which I still have, hehehe) of you doing da Harlem Shake. ROFLMAO.
I’m honored to be considered YOUR friend and I’m glad that you are mine. *smooches & hugs*

Yes, I’ve had quite a few name changes throughout this (almost) year of blogging, since some broad liked me more than I like myself (lol) but I’ve always come back to Diggs. I really appreciated this…I needed something to cheer me up and this was right on time..ya know, shameless plugging and all (lol).

Only you can do a tribute that makes you get teary-eyed about people others may not have ever met. I love this idea Will. Keep up the amazing work.
