Nights Like This …

Filed under: On My Mind ..., Fiction

nullIt’s nights like this, when I’m feeling myself, wanting you like never before.

This is the night I look at myself in the mirror and know that it’s my night. Our night. Then I look at you — how you look — stare at the curves that can’t be ignored, that seem to be begging me to explore them one-by-one tonight.

I reach out to you. Caress your hand and feel you trembling with excitement … with expectation. I smile at you, not knowing exactly what the night will bring. I just know it’s ours. I melt when you return the smile, exposing that dimple in your left cheek. I start picturing myself relaxing you by brushing your hair, listening to you exhale as I rub your back. Giggling as I playfully tickle you.

This is the kind of night where words aren’t necessary. Where living inside the moment is the one and only option.
I can see all of that tonight. On a night like this.

A full moon. A full plate. Lots to do. We start out. Share the same space, fill ourselves with food and anticipation. Show each other off in public. Let people know that tonight, although we might be amongst them, we only see each other.

I take full advantage of the full moon. Admire you with it as the backdrop. Admire you in that light. Measure your eyes. See me in them. See past the moon and all the way into tomorrow’s sun.

Songs were made about nights like this. And tonight, we’ll make our own song. Craft lyrics that include the perfect harmony of cold weather and warm bodies … the perfect melody filled with moans and screams, laughter and joyful tears. Beads of sweat that form as we take it to the bridge.

There will be no love making on a night like this. Just noise making. Perfect sex. The perfect song. One that begins with fore bars … and ends after the final downstroke.

We’ve been putting it off for too long. Whisper in my ear and let me know you need it as much as I do. This way, we can go that way … into the night, doing things we’ve been meaning to do for so long. Necessary things that can only happen …

On a night like this.

Are you ready … ?

  1. Nights like this . . . I wish . . . raindrops would fall.

Seriously, that was deep. Even deeper because I coincidently was listening to “Moments In Love” while I was reading your post.

  3. I can’t say good. This was better than good. So awesome I got warm feelings behind it. Things like this should not be broadcast on the Internet for others to read during working hours. Not fair! Totally unfair. *Placing on schedule to re-read from home* LMAO

  12. Nice to drop back by, I’d stayed away too long. Reading your writing is nice. See, sometimes I wonder how authors have jobs. I think, why would people pay to read the words of others. Then I check you and Glory out and I am reminded that words have a power all unto themselves, and from the mind of the write person, they can really do something special. Thanks man.

  13. Yes I’m ready but first stop telling these people all of our business! LOL kidding, kidding.

On a serious side let me know when you are ready… to be dragged out to a poetry spot, I go at least once a week, often more.

    In other words, I like.
