Oh, Five — A Crash Course

It was a long year. Really long. Thankfully, it’s over. Time to move on. Happy New Year to all!!! (And if I drunk-dialed anyone last night, please forgive me. LOL)

But when you think about last year, when you take the time to review those 525,600 minutes, it should definitely remind you of the crticially acclaimed film that came out in early 2005 — Crash. It was certainly the most talked-about film of the past 12 months — and with all of the tension and struggle that defined the film, it’s safe to say that it mirrored our current society frame by frame, begging for a director to yell “Cut!”

Everyone has had or has seen their own “Crash” moment — a time when you’re sent careening into a situation that makes you uncomfortable or leery. Where you’re forced to confront your fears.

Isn’t that 2005 in a nutshell?!?!? From the tsunami to DubyaDubya II to Katrina to the unusual amount of death we’ve suffered as a nation … this year was a collision course with reality played on a loop.

So, with that in mind, I figured I would try to be different with my year-end review. Step outside of my comfort zone just like the movie did. Examine the black, white and the gray areas. So I’ll be using twenty quotes from Crash to tell the story of the year I like to call Oh, Five.
