I Knew Lou …
“I saw a lot of reasons to live.”
Reasons. And seasons. In fact, it was his hit song in the 70’s, “Spring Again,” that introduced me to the velvet-voiced crooner from Chi-town. That introduction led to a prolonged relationship with Lou Rawls — through the albums played in my home each and every weekend.
That’s how I was introduced to him — through his music. That’s what I’ll remember about him. All of that. But not just that.
He gave me “Spring Again,” which gave me a bond with my sister, who absolutely loved this man’s voice. She’d dance around to his albums literally seven ways to Sunday, playing the LP until the needle wore down. And when “You’ll Never Find (Another Love Like Mine)” was released, she played that mercilessly as well.
So I knew Lou.
