He Had to See
He couldn’t help it. He had to see. He knew it was late, that he was supposed to be asleep. He knew the next day was the first day back to school, back to 4th grade after the long holiday vacation. Back to the books and to the basics. Still, he couldn’t help it. As much as he knew what he was supposed to do, he couldn’t help it.
He had to see.
So he risked punishment, risked the wrath of his parents, snuck into the family room and turned on the television. Muted the sound. He didn’t need to hear. Just wanted to see. Had to see his favorite player do his thing in a bowl game.
