A “Know” Brainer

Filed under: Life, On My Mind ...

Two weeks til spring! And I can’t wait. It feels so good to be home for a long stretch — well, long for me; I’ll be back on the road at the end of the month — and to be able to catch up on some blogging.

I feel good. I actually had a great weekend. Also, it’s Tuesday and the weather isn’t crappy. So, with all that goodness lined up in a row, why don’t we get on down with some “I Know’s.”

Oh, and shout out to “Crash” for winning Best Picture at the Academy Awards on Sunday. Sure, it may not have been the best movie of 2005, but as far as sparking dialogue and *ahem* most DVDs delivered to potential Academy voters */ahem*, it wins hands down.

I see you, Cheads. Your time will come, baby. Keep on bringing the goodness!

Let’s go …

I know he wasn’t the prototypical baseball player, but I’ll always remember the infectious energy, winning attitude, and leadership qualities of Hall of Fame baseball player Kirby Puckett, who passed away Monday after complications from a stroke suffered over the weekend. R.I.P., Kirby.

I know, I know … Three 6 Mafia didn’t set us back 100 years with their Academy Award win the other night, but still … something is horribly wrong when a song about the travails of a pimp gets top prize. Oy.

I know that after the crappy selections the Academy had to choose from in the Best Original Song category, people like Kanye West, Sting and Elton John are chomping at the bit to get into that category for next year.

I know now, after yesterday’s post, that you guys are really concerned about me finding the right woman before I shrivel up and die. LOL

I know it’s been a year since it went off the air, but not much makes me happier than watching NYPD Blue reruns on CourtTV every weekend.

I know that Fresh! calls them D-listers (LOL), but dammit!, I have a soft spot for the barbers on MTV’s The Shop, since they’re from my neighborhood in Queens.

“I know my parents love me, stand behind me come what may …” (Y’all had to know that was coming sometime soon … I LOVE TV! LOL)

I know that I’m going to have a huge bash this year for my 35th birthday, and I ALSO know that if you punks get an invite, you better show your asses up! LOL

I know that Christopher Wallace probably wasn’t the greatest rapper of all time, but dammit if he wasn’t on his way …

I know that Flavor Flav is gonna pick Tiffany aka “New York” this coming Sunday and that they’re probably already working on their forthcoming reality show as I type this.

I know that Whitney Houston bet’ not be pregnant.

I know that Being Bobby Brown, Season Too, won’t be as good as the first unless they have the Browns on a cross country road trip.

I know that I couldn’t be happier with Carolina beating Duke the other night.

I know that I couldn’t think of a more perfect lineup for a concert than Dave Chappelle put together for his 2004 block party in Bed-Stuy.

I know you can’t predict what America will do, but I will be very surprised if lil’ Paris Bennett and Mandisa aren’t still competing on American Idol come May.

I know that she was a royal pain in the ass and too damn cocky for her own good, but that Brenna chick that was voted off last week was sexy to me.

I know that Yanni’s Block better hurry up and find Ashley’s killer.

I know that Las Vegas will always be one of my most favorite destinations.

I know that nothing beats brunch uptown at Native.

I know that Jon Stewart’s Daily Show may be OK, but it’s weak compared to Real Time with Bill Maher on HBO.

I know there are many jazz artists out there, but you haven’t heard the good shit til you’ve sat down, took a load off, and let “In A Sentimental Mood” by Coltrane and Ellington soak into your pores.

  14. Your BloggerWifey turned me on to Native for brunch. It was DELISH! You know three six only won because the academy couldnt give best actor to terrance howard. That song was garbage! Dont let Jada and Anthony Hamilton have to make a new song…

Why Halle have to let a white man pop her to get a Oscar?/Why Denzel have to be crooked before he took it?/Why did three six win for a song about a chump?/If you the real pimp, Partner, why you reaching for my cup?
    LOL

How can you not like Duke? Carolina bites!!!

As far as finding the right woman, maybe your blogger fam should do an online reality show like Flav did.

    You’re having a birthday? I don’t think NYC is ready for Will’s 35th.
