On Know-tice: A Prelude to Summer

nullIt’s almost here. And despite how tired I am today, I can feel the energy of what is promising to be one of the best summers ever! It’s gonna be ON FIYAH! And I’m just putting you all on notice!

“Can You Feel It?” *ha-ha-pfff-ha ha haaaa ha ha pfff* (yeahhh … in case you were wondering, that was my lame attempt at beat-boxing … lol)

Remember that song from the Fat Boys? Those were the days. Sigh.

Let’s go … on to the “Knows” for June …

I know the real reason Denis Farina quit L&O is because he couldn’t take Jesse Martin singing all those fuggin’ show tunes after every take. LOL

I know she just moved in, but if the thick lady next door doesn’t do something to control her small dog’s barking, there’s gonna be a sequel to ‘Hell Up in Harlem’ this summer.

I know he’s talented, and the rest of the world will, too, now that my boy Fave’s second book of poetry has been published.

I know I don’t say this enough, but I really love my mama.

I know I’ve been horrible with the phone calls and emails, but to all my friends out there: please know I’m OK and it’s been a crazy work schedule and deadlines that have kept me from keeping in better contact.

I know I’ve been gone for a while, but can somebody please tell me if Larry Brown is still the head coach of the New York Knicks? LOL

I know Dwyane Wade went crazy the other night, but seriously, can Miami really depend on that type of effort from him every game, injured knee and all, in order to win … by only two points at home?

I know that my ears stay clogged due to extended airplane travel, but seriously … can ANYONE understand a word of what Shaq says anymore?!?!?!?

I know that as the playoffs continue to roll on, Josh Howard is fast becoming one of my favorite players in the NBA.

I know that last summer was great, but this summer … mannnnnnnnnn … THIS summer is gonna be the best one ever.

I know it’s not even summer yet, but I really, really, really, really need another dose of The HEAT … stat!

I know someone who’s getting marrrieedddd … and I couldn’t be happier for them. :)

I know where Langston lives, and dammit, I think it’s inside of me.

I know that there are TONS of female soul singers out today, but seriously … Leela James is, in my humble opinion, one of the very best ever to share her gift.

I know someone who is 64 years old, that voted for Taylor Hicks during the Idol finale … 64 times. Sigh.

I know it seems ridiculous, but every time I see a woman wearing orange — wherever it may be — a smile comes across my face, as if on cue.

I know that the new “Miami Vice” movie will probably suck, based on the previews.

I know I almost lost my lunch when I heard Jamie Foxx, as Tubbs, say in the trailer the following to Colin Farrell, as Crockett: “I’ve always believed in you.” *retch*

I know I can’t wait until the weekend before the Fourth of July!!!

I know the director of the first two X-Men movies … and after seeing the third installment this week … Brett Ratner, you are no director of X-Men movies!!!

I know that when dudes are going around randomly stabbing people on the C train, all hell is about to bust loose this summer on NYC subways. Sigh.

I know that I watch a lot of TV, and since summer is here and all of my favorite shows are on hiatus, I’ve resorted to watching the old sitcoms on TV One … and all these years later, “Roc” is still a funny show.

I know that TV One also shows reruns of “City of Angels,” and although Vivica A. Fox is prominently involved, it’s STILL a pretty good show.

I know that THIS year, I will NOT fall asleep during D.L. Hughley’s set … and that’s a promise I made to me. LOL

I know that it’s Father’s Day weekend coming up, so I must shout out all the dads out there who are handling their business.

I know, too, that this Father’s Day, the second one without my dad, I will be spending the afternoon watching to see if Tiger can win one more championship for his on that special day.

  10. Today, (6/16/06), is the first time that I have ever seen or read your blog and I cant stop laughing. It’s really great to see someone that doesn’t take life so seriously yet takes it seriously enough. I love that you find the humor in it all.
